The Department of Pharmacology has a great focus on neuroscience research. Researchers in the department study the fundamental pharmacology of neurotransmission, how investigational pharmaceuticals affect it, and how drugs can be used to treat brain diseases more effectively.
The Department of Pharmacology studies drugs for addiction and substance abuse disorders, epilepsy and anticonvulsants, learning and memory mechanisms, the impact of the blood brain barrier on disease and neuroactive medication penetration, and the causes of chronic pain and analgesics.
